Signature Flexible Packaging was founded by Russian immigrant Isaac Schuster in 1954 as Schuster Cellophane. In the 1960’s, Isaac’s son Jack Schuster joined the company and eventually took over the firm and moved the operation to a larger facility in Vernon, California.

Jack’s son Richard joined the company in the 1970’s and in turn became President/ CEO in the 1980’s.  Schuster Flexible Packaging moved to it’s current headquarters location in Commerce, California in 1989.

After substantial growth in the 1990’s, Schuster Flexible Packaging was sold to the Vitex Packaging Group.  Schuster Flexible Packaging operated as the West Coast division of Vitex from 1999 to 2005.  The company continued to grow during this time, expanding it’s printing capabilities and adding new products such as heat-seal coating and CMYK printing to its repertoire.

In late 2004, Vitex announced it’s desire to spin off Schuster Flexible Packaging.  Adrian Backer, the division’s chief operating officer for the prior 8 years purchased the company from Vitex in 2005.  Shortly thereafter, the company purchased and merged with Accurate Packaging of Carson, California, owned by Howard Applebaum, eventually forming Signature Flexible Packaging.

Today the company operates two plants in the Los Angeles County area utilizing up-to-date converting technology.  A model employer, good corporate citizen, and seasoned supplier of flexible packaging, Signature Flexible Packaging is the right choice.
